March 24, 2020

Dear Campus Community School Parents,

I’m sure you’ve been following the ever changing news and updates surrounding Covid-19. And I’m sure you are already aware that last night, Governor Carney clarified that all Delaware schools will be closed to students until May 15, 2020. Let’s be honest – that’s a long time, it’s not the ideal situation, there are still a lot of unanswered questions, and we are all impacted on a personal level. Life feels uncertain. So there’s only one obvious answer to me; we need to WORK TOGETHER to be supportive and determine potential solutions.

This week we will meet in grade level teams to discuss what parents have told us about their technology access, as well as what learning should look like moving forward while students are at home. We are trying to take everyone’s needs in to account while also creating something manageable and flexible. I love that some of you have reached out with questions and to share what’s worked and what’s been a struggle so far. This helps us fine tune what we are doing. As soon as we have a more definitive plan, we will share it.

In the meantime, we know you are doing the best you can, just as we are. Thank you for being patient and supportive. Look for more information from us in the coming days.

Sincerely,

Heidi Greene

Dear Campus Families:

Out of an abundance of caution, Governor Carney has ordered all of Delaware’s public schools to close for the next two weeks to allow for the creation of a plan for Delaware’s children and families as the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues. Schools will be closed March 16 through March 27 and children should stay home. All school-related events (including athletic practices) are suspended during this time.

We understand this action may pose added hardship for some of our families. Over the next two weeks, we will continue to work with the Delaware Department of Education and the Division of Public Health to prepare for the potential impact that an extended closure could have on our students, their families, and our staff.

While your student(s) remains home, we encourage you to continue practicing good hygiene and only interact with others outside of your home when necessary.

If you feel for any reason your child may have or has been exposed to the novel coronavirus, please contact your doctor immediately. Virus symptoms can range from mild to severe and could include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Symptoms may appear in a few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure.

We are in the process of determining what options we have for our students to continue learning while the school is closed.

We will remain in close contact with the State of Delaware and local public health officials throughout the duration of this closure and will provide updates to families as appropriate.

We encourage you to stay informed of the situation by regularly checking updates from Division of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

We understand this is a time of uncertainty and concern. We will work through this together to keep our students, families, and staff safe.

If you have health-related questions, please contact the Coronavirus hotline at 1.866.408.1899 OR your family physician. If you have questions about our school, please me through email at heidi.greene@ccs.k12.de.us. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Sincerely,

Heidi Greene
